As an artist deeply rooted in the vibrant and dynamic cityscape of Hong Kong, my work in printmaking serves as both a reflection and an exploration of the urban environment that surrounds me. The bustling streets, diverse architecture, and the ever-changing skyline of this city provide a rich tapestry of inspiration that fuels my creative process.
Specializing in linocut printmaking, I am drawn to the intricate craft and meticulous planning it requires. I love that it is a slow process in an increasingly fast world. Each piece begins with sketches and on-location drawings, capturing the essence of the people and places that animate the city. Then, in the studio, I enjoy the painstaking process of planning each stage of carving, inking and printing the lino multiple times, experimenting with the layering of colors, shapes and tones. My prints strive to evoke a sense of fun and vibrancy that I feel when creating them. They are a playful invitation to pause and see the world through my eyes, where even the simplest scenes are rich with possibility.
